Our Catholic faith is rich with tradition beyond Tradition with the upper-case “T”. Search the list of traditions we have been exploring for something to inspire your own family. You can also search by keyword or topic through the search bar above, as the title of the post may not always indicate what you are looking for. For instance, if you wanted to search for traditions that pertain to cows, you can type in “cows,” and the search results should reflect the pertinent information. (Currently, not all items listed have a post. Underlined items are linked, while ones that are not do not yet have a post. Posts will be linked as they are added to the site. Additional information will be added as I continue to discover and write. Thank you for your understanding!)

My primary goal in the first year of this site has been to create a catalogue of customs with enough information to get you started on how to participate in them. Eventually, I hope to write more thoroughly on each subject from the homesteading perspective, but also particularly from the faith perspective. It can be easy to dwell on the actions of the custom over the reason we do it, creating a list of things we “have to do,” rather that deepening our faith.

The list is primarily organized according to the liturgical calendar. Though Advent is the start of the liturgical year, Martinmas once marked the beginning of the Advent or fasting season leading up to Christmas. Lower down on the page, you will find a list of traditions that are not necessarily tied to a specific date, but are traditions or customs that have long been practiced, or things pertinent to the homesteading way of life.
